Overview

By the second semester of the second grade, students should be able to identify a situation where a decision is being made, identify the choice options involved, as well as the ability to develop their own choice options for a given situation (choice context). Students should also be able to define the positive and negative characteristics or results of a particular choice option. During the 2b/3a semesters, students will extend their knowledge of choice and to the concept of consequences, the positive (+) and negative (-) short-term or immediate results of each choice option.

Learning Activity

Introduce the class to the concept of consequences. Ask the class if anyone knows what the word means. Define consequences in terms of making a choice. Ask about positive and negative connotations. Make it clear that consequences are both positive and negative by way of examples.
