Overview
By the second semester of the first grade, students should have a complete understanding of choice and be able to recognize when a choice has to be made, as well as the ability to identify multiple choice options. During this semester, students will extend their knowledge of choice by being introduced to the concept of choice distinctions, the defining characteristics or results, both positive (+) and negative (-), or each choice option.

Review with the class the concept of choice. Introduce the distinctions "label" concept, meaning the students' words that best represent their description of the choice options. Students should be focused on the positive and negative aspects of each choice option. Give the definition with examples of labels (distinctions).
